About the PDF Compressor

Large PDFs get rejected by email, job portals and government sites that cap uploads at 1 MB or 2 MB. The ToolSandook PDF Compressor shrinks a PDF right in your browser, so the file never leaves your device.

Standard mode re-saves the PDF without losing any quality and works well for text documents. Strong mode turns each page into a JPEG image at the quality you choose, which gives the biggest saving on scanned documents and photo-heavy PDFs.

How to use the PDF Compressor

  1. Choose your PDF or drop it on the box.
  2. Pick Standard (lossless) or Strong (pages as JPEG).
  3. In Strong mode, set the image quality. Lower quality means a smaller file.
  4. Press Compress PDF, check the new size and download it.

Features

  • Free, no sign-up and no watermark
  • Your PDF is processed on your device, never uploaded
  • Shows the size before and after
  • Works on phone, tablet and computer

Frequently asked questions

How much can a PDF be compressed?

It depends on what is inside. Scanned pages and photos often shrink by 50 to 90% in Strong mode. Text-only PDFs are usually already small, so Standard mode saves less.

Will compressing reduce the quality?

Standard mode keeps the quality exactly the same. Strong mode converts pages to images, so text can no longer be selected and quality depends on the slider.

Is it safe to compress private documents here?

Yes. The compression runs in your browser using JavaScript. Your file is not sent to any server.

Can I compress a PDF to under 1 MB or 200 KB?

Use Strong mode and lower the quality step by step until the size shown is below your limit.
